Project overview
MAITLAND RURAL PROPERTY SOLAR, BATTERY & BACKUP
A 13.2 kW solar and 15.8 kWh battery system installed on a large shed at a rural property near Maitland, with power monitoring, whole-property backup and room for future expansion.

The need
The customer wanted a quality solar and battery system installed around a large shed, with Australian-made solar panels a priority. The inverter and battery equipment needed to fit neatly within a narrow area inside the shed, while still allowing the system to be expanded later if required.
The wider property was also considered, including backup power and provision to make use of excess solar for selected loads in the future.
What we did
- Installed 13.2 kW of Australian-made Tindo Walara solar panels on the shed roof.
- Installed a 10 kW three-phase Fronius hybrid inverter and 15.8 kWh Fronius Reserva battery.
- Installed the inverter and battery equipment within the available space inside the shed.
- Provided power monitoring using a Fronius three-phase smart meter.
- Set up automatic changeover for whole-property backup during a grid outage.
- Allowed for the battery system to be expanded later if additional storage is required. The installed Reserva system supports expansion in 3.15 kWh increments.
How it helped
The finished system provides solar generation, battery storage, power monitoring and backup in one installation, while keeping the equipment contained within the available shed space. The system can be expanded later if the property’s energy use changes, without installing unnecessary battery capacity upfront.
