MINE SITE PUMP VSD & CONTROL SYSTEM
Design, manufacture and installation of a custom VSD control panel for reliable pump operation in a harsh mining environment.
Customer need
The customer required a pump speed controller suitable for use on a mine site. With the pump and motor supplied by the customer, the control system needed to suit a harsh, dusty and noisy environment while meeting additional mine site requirements.
What we did
- Designed and built a custom VSD and control system panel, with schematic drawings and equipment documentation supplied as separate project deliverables.
- Installed the control system with the customer-supplied pump and motor.
- Used enclosure fans with quick-access filters for cooling and easy cleaning.
- Used ELV wiring for remote and panel-mounted equipment.
- Used flexible steel conduit for additional mechanical protection.
- Installed a run indicator light so operators could confirm pump operation. Provided equipotential bonding studs.
How it helped
The equipment passed introduction to site without delay and operated for the duration of the project without issue. The system provided simple, reliable operation, while the run indicator allowed operators to confirm pump operation in the noisy environment.
